Master Bath walls...

This is the master bathroom wall.  :)  We, John & I, decided not to put crown moulding at the top of the tile walls. It looks good with it stopping right there in the corner. 
David and I were just down there to look at the latest supplies...  That will be my next post. :)

The other side of that window. There's not much that has to be done here in this bathroom...  Well, I do have to decide where to put a small ceiling fan & light. 






I copy and pasted a picture of the fan from Lowe's website.  There were 20 something reviews... all were positive comments.  I saw it at Lowe's when we first started the demolision.

Window trim is done... Crown moulding is done...  Vent is installed, cover is attached...  This part of the bathroom is finished... 
As soon as the flooring in the rest of the cabin is installed... the cabinets built and installed, doors installed...  What else??? There will be some serious cleaning to do in there.  But... that will be good!  After the floor is down, I can order our storage bed.  :)

This is the back of the shower wall.  John did a really good job of finishing off that wall.  It didn't look right with the tile stopping where it did.  The casing trim with a little cut off one side was perfect!  The texture is the same on the walls and ceiling.  I love it!!!

The shower side of that wall.  Another two months should have us moving in.  That will give John time to get the floor down and get the cabinets finished??? 
That will also have me all finished with H & R Block!!!!  YES!!! 
That will also be a couple of anniversaries for me.  High school graduation and wedding anniversary... both in May. 

Lights, trim, and fans...

Ok...  How does this fan look to you???  That's what I thought, too.  It really doesn't look right.  That's because when I bought it, the ceiling was going to be painted.  But there was enough stained beadboard for the whole room.  I intended to take it back and get one as close to the ones in the living room...  But I misunderstood about when Tommy, the electrician, was coming and didn't put a note on the box...  And my cell phone kicked the bucket, so he couldn't talk to me about what went where...  Does anyone need a white ceiling fan? I still have the box... and the instruction guide...  :-)  Not to worry.  I'll go back to Lowe's and look through their awesome fan collection.  I bet I'll find a Hunter fan that will be perfect! 



This is the trim for the whole house.  Doesn't it look good???  I know... it's hard to tell much about a bunch of lumber tied in bundles.   Just wait til I show you pictures of the window trim!!!  I took these pictures on Monday, the 7th, the same day the electrician was here. 

Oh...  I thought I had a picture of the fans in the living room.  This is only showing the recessed lights over the fireplace and windows.  Terry, the tile guy, got the tile laid around the hearth.  It's the same tile that in the floor of both bathrooms.  At some point we may have him come back and tile over the fireplace.  I think I'll clean it first.  The color looks good with the honey colored walls.

Different time of day...

 It is amazing how different it looks in the morning, compared to night time.  This was from Sunday, Feb 6th at 11am.  The ceiling looks different and the paint looks different.  A much softer look to everything. 

 I really like the shadows on the wall!  That alcove is going to be a cabinet type dresser thing.  The room is only 10'x 11'.  With a king size bed that is about six foot square, there is just not much room left for furniture!  John is working on the trim...  Oops! I'm getting ahead of myself.  There's a few things to tell you before we get to the trim!!!  :-)

This post is about how all these rooms look in daylight.  I am always surprised when I look at the previous posts w/pictures... There is such a change one week to another and sometimes, one day to another.  I'm trying to be patient and not hurry the process.  We've waited this long...  Nov 2002 to now.  Another month or two is not such a long time.

Master Bath tile...

The tile in the master bath is finished!  Grouted and cleaned.  Looks GREAT!!!  There's enough room in there to wash my hair without hitting my elbows on the wall or shower curtain.  The water will hit the top of my head instead of the back of my neck.  

I guess that Eric, the plumber, could put in the shower head and trim... and all the things that go on the Jacuzzi.  Yes! That will work!!!  Oh! ... wait... John has to get back in there to paint.  I'm trying to get ahead of myself.  It's just so hard to wait... 

The grout looks very light colored, but it isn't.  The color is Bone and was the darkest of the neutrals that Lowe's had on their chart.   I'm very pleased with it.  Darker grout would have worked, but I had an hour and a half to make all the choices for the tile... what size tile went where... what color grout...  sanded vs. unsanded...  Then, when I had all those choices made, the salesman looked on his computer to make sure they had enough...  Nope.  Someone had bought some of the same tile I wanted.  That is why there are three colors, instead of just one or two.  But... it has worked out beautifully!  and I love it!

Pantry & Utility Room

 Well, I can see it as a pantry!  The outlet is for the microwave and KitchenAid mixer.  They will be in an open shelf...  With drawers or shelves under and above.  There will be doors on those. 

 Terry has the tile grouted in the utility room.  It looks great!  Now, I need to find the edge pieces for it.  That needs to go on before we put the washer/dryer in there.  We looked at the stacked sets, but still haven't decided if we'll use those or the side by side we have now.
I'm thinking that if we don't get the stacked set, there won't be enough room for the litter box.  Smokey & P-Man wouldn't be happy if we don't have their litter box in the new house/cabin. 
Oh... I'll have to look through my older photos to find them...  Hang on... Will be back soon...

More tile...

From Tuesday, January 25, 2010...
The shower floor is done!  I didn't walk in there, just leaned over as far as I could to get the picture.  Can hardly wait til he starts grouting everything!!!  Guess I'd better ask if the grout color is going to be OK???  And I might need to get more.

Terry got the Schluter put on the other shower.  It looks awfully tight in there!  But when I've stood in there, raised my arms up as if to wash my hair, I wasn't hitting my elbows on anything. 
Terry left me a voice message to get another 3 boxes of the bullnose edging.  I had a feeling I didn't buy enough!  That's OK...  Everything is looking so good!  I am VERY pleased!!!

I didn't take any photos of the rest of the cabin.  It's hard to take exciting photos of drywall that's being mudded & taped.  It is slowly coming along, though.  LOL!  John even fixed the place where I'd stuck my fingers in his freshly mudded wall last night.  ...  Sorry, John!  I'll try to be more careful from now on.

Saturday & Monday

 Terry has tile to the ceiling of the shower.  He also put the two shelves in the corner.  This will work!!! 

 And here is the front of the tub.  I am SO pleased with how this is going!!! 

This is a better picture of how it really looks in the sun room.  Of course, there's lots of work to be done...  John has to put the Murphy Bed frame together, check the measurements, then build the closet for it.

 Living Room during the day is very different than night time.  John did something to the French Doors... now they close and lock!!! 

 Today (24Jan2011) Terry got the bathroom floor down.  Oh!  I just noticed the tile on the edge of the wall and the ... whatever that it that goes across the floor of the shower!!!  WOW! I didn't see that when we were down there just a few minutes ago!  Can hardly wait til the grout is done.  That will be another day or so.  The floor of the shower is still not done.

We had just been in the bathroom, walking back through the kitchen...  Not thinking... I put my hand up on the wall...  Today, John put up the rounded corner moulding... I had no idea it was wet.  :-(  I know he'll see it in the morning!!!  I tried to smooth it out, but it looks ugly. 

I think I'll just change the subject... 

Yesterday evening, David & I went over to Lowe's... Looking at trim, moulding, casing, corner rosettes, plinths, and medicine cabinets.  We picked out everything, but we're hoping we can get all that at a much better price.  There's a business locally that will mill it.  David's going to check with them this week while he's on vacation. 

Here's the medicine cabinet we picked out.  It mounts on the wall, not set inside between the studs.  There's two sizes, so one of them should fit both bathrooms.

John says he'll be ready to paint in a few days.  Oh!!  No problem!  I've got the main color picked out!  It's called Filoli Honey.  If any of you have been to the Southern Living Idea House just outside of Hot Springs, you'll know the color.  It's a gorgeous yellow that changes with whatever light that comes through the windows and doors.

I woke up this morning with my sinuses so stopped up that I could hardly breathe!  I've taken a couple of NyQuils and am calling it a night.
